Work on the current building was started in 1470. Now only just peeping over city offices, the 152 foot tall tower is perhaps the most impressive part of Saint Stephen’s. The tower, once a visible landmark for seafarers, is typical of Somerset churches, but with the addition of a Gloucestershire crown of arcaded battlements, four angle pinnacles and openwork parapet.
